Hosting Providers

Finding the right hosting company can be a frustrating and time-consuming job. Each user's needs are different, meaning that the choice that may be best for you could be totally wrong for someone else.

There are some basics that are critical to using content management systems such as Joomla on your web host's server. First, the host must run Unix, and preferably the Apache Web server. Both PHP and My SQL or acquire to run Joomla.

Additionally, the host should provide access to Fantastico, an application installer. We also recommend that substantial file storage is available, along with other features you may be considering for your site, such as: SSL certificates, and media streaming.

Other things which you may consider important could include: bulk e-mail, data backup and restore, online file management, secure folders, and subdomains.

When it comes to hosting providers, the old adage, “you get what you pay for,” rings true. While some of our favorite providers, such as Host Monster, are very inexpensive, and occasional glitch will take your website down for a few minutes. However, instead of spending under $10 a month for hosting services, you could easily spend three to four times the amount of money to guarantee 100% uptime.
